Election Scandal in Afghanistan


In Afghanistan right now there's a nice little thing going on called the Electoral Complaints Commission. Now, I know, I know, there would never be an election scandal in a country that the U.S. bombed back to the stone age and then backed up one of the candidates. But, believe it or not, there is and fixing it has just gotten a little bit harder. One of the five members of the Electoral Complaints Commission, Mustafa Barakzai, has quite saying that the commission was overly influenced by foreigners. Now, I'm a little suspicious of Barakzai's loyalties; however, I can definitely see where he's coming from considering that out of five members the commission is made up of three non-afghans. Now, the commission has already said that President Hamid Karzai will, in reality, not get the 50 percent of the votes that he will need to officially win the election. Now, for the U.S. I know this is probably a sad time considering he was the guy that we backed up. Yes, good old west backed Karzai, the man who signed a bill into law stating that men have the right to starve their wives if the don't provide them with sex twice a week. Full story on CNN.com
